Concrete Surface Preparation

The part of the job you will not see is the part that helps the floor last.

What to know first

Proper surface preparation is one of the biggest factors determining coating adhesion and longevity. A coating cannot fix a contaminated, weak, or poorly profiled slab.

Concrete Surface Preparation

Alpine may use diamond grinding, shot blasting where appropriate, old-coating removal, crack and spall repair, cleaning, contaminant checks, moisture assessment, and concrete profiling based on the existing conditions and selected system.

What preparation addresses

  • Adhesion by creating the appropriate concrete profile
  • Cracks, spalls, old coatings, dust, oil, and other contaminants
  • Moisture or slab conditions that could affect the selected system

Frequently asked questions

Why does concrete preparation matter so much?

Preparation determines how well the coating can bond to the slab. Skipping it or choosing the wrong method can lead to early adhesion problems, regardless of how attractive the finish looks.

What warranty does Alpine provide?

Alpine provides a 5-Year Limited Labor Warranty according to its actual terms. Manufacturer and product warranties, where applicable, are separate and subject to the applicable manufacturer’s terms.

How do you prepare the concrete?

Preparation can include diamond grinding, crack or spall repair, removal of old coatings, cleaning, contaminant checks, and moisture assessment as appropriate for the existing slab and coating system.
